In 1944, some Lutheran folk shared a vision for camping ministry. Determined to make the vision a reality, they gathered on the shores of Green Lake, and sitting on an oak log, "prayed Lutherdale into being." The log, now the fireplace mantel in the dining hall, is the namesake from which Order of the Log originates.
God's will and grace directed these founding efforts, and now sustains this vital ministry for youth and adults. Lutherdale Bible Camp was established and continues to be supported by congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois and by many friends.
Membership in Order of the Log is composed of people who are committed to prividing on-going opportunities for growth in self-awareness and in relationship with God, nature and people in a Christian environment. Members are supportive of Lutherdale's ministry through annual gifts of $100 or more, as long as they are able.
Members also empower Lutherdale's ministry through regular prayer support and by encouraging others through invitation and example to use and support the ministry.
